Women in Engineering

On the 15th of November, a group of year 8 girls visited the University of Sheffield for the ‘Women in Engineering’ event. The girls learnt all about the wide range of careers linked with Engineering and met with a group of female students who talked about the different types of Engineering degrees they were studying at University.

Throughout the day, Westborough pupils along with two other schools took part in various activities including an Engineering Challenge and an interactive session where they were able to get a taster of the Virtual Reality course using VR Goggles.

Music Audio Technology

On the 28th November, students who are currently studying Music attended an event at the University of York, “Audio Music Technology”.

This fascinating event was put together by students studying for an MSc in Audio and Music Technology within the Department of Electronics at the University of York. These students designed a number of hands-on activities to showcase some of the fast paced advances in audio recording, digital sound and music technology.

Activities were related to Physics, Music, Design Technology and ICT and activities included making music from unusual objects and electronics, hands-on experience in a professional recording studio and a demonstration of fully immersive surround sound in an array of 16 loud speakers.
