On Thursday 17th January, 65 students from Year 8 and 9 were treated to a reward trip to Xscape by Mr Johnson (Raising Achievement Lead), as part of his ‘Ultimate Thumbs Up Thursday’ initiative. Students rose to the challenge of meeting the strict criteria for the ‘guest list’ by achieving:

  • 95%+ attendance
  • an average effort grade of 1/2 (Outstanding/Good) across all subjects
  • Over 350 Sleuth praise points

At Xscape, students enjoyed tenpin bowling, laser tag and trampolining. Year 8 student, Zaynab, who took part in trampolining said that ‘it was really, really fun and I loved spending time with my friends outside of school’. Qasim, a Year 9 student added that ‘bowling was great fun and it felt good to be rewarded for our hard work. The only thing that could have been better was if it was longer!’

Staff felt that students were exemplary representatives of the school, both in the way that they worked towards the reward and in how they conducted themselves whilst at Xscape. Students and form tutors are now eagerly awaiting the next trip!
