Safeguarding Statement
Westborough is a safe place for young people and we take our safeguarding responsibilities very seriously. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of our students. We expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. We have a “culture of vigilance”, which means we know our students well and do everything in our power to keep them safe and to be alert to problems. We have a strong anti-bullying ethos and educate and protect students from all forms of peer on peer abuse. This is evident throughout our school. Our curriculum ensures we promote young people’s safety and well-being, in terms of relationships, drugs and alcohol misuse, personal safety, e-safety and exploitation.
We always ensure that the necessary Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and List 99 checks are completed before anyone working in the school is employed. We have staff members who are specifically trained within the School.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is our Deputy Head Mrs G Sweasey and our Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs) are Ms K Smith Ms C Long and Mrs H Patel.

We would always hope to share any concerns we may have about your child with you, at the first opportunity. We hope you do the same with us about your, or any other child. Part of our legal duty to safeguard your children may also include us needing to consult with and take advice from other agencies such as the Police, or Children’s Social Care, should the need arise.
By working closely together with families and our partner agencies, maintaining the highest level of awareness about possible unsafe practices and dealing with any issues immediately and appropriately, we firmly believe that we will continue to offer a safe learning environment for all our children.
