What happens in Year 7 & 8
In Years 7 & 8, all students have one lesson of 100 minutes and develop their skills in football, netball, gymnastics, rugby, movement, health related fitness, rounders, cricket and athletics. Students learn to develop their planning and organising skills and will work closely with other members of the class.

What happens in Year 9, 10 and 11?
All students continue to participate in PE furthering the skills obtained in Years 7 – 8. Every student will have one lesson of 100 minutes. The PE curriculum becomes more of an option programme. Within these options a student can decided to take the Leadership 1 Award, the Junior Sports Leaders Award, the Dance Leaders Award and the Junior Football Organisers Award.   BTEC Dance and the BTEC First Certificate in Sport are other available options. The BTECs are multi-disciplined courses delivered through a range of modules with coursework the main focus of assessment.

How do we help students achieve their potential?
PE is a very practical subject and every pupil receives the opportunity and encouragement to achieve their full potential. Students will be developing their skills during every lesson. They constantly get short and long-term goals to achieve and are developing their skills in teamwork.

What else goes on in the PE Department?
Many extra-curricular activities take place at lunchtime and after school. These include football, netball, rugby, basketball, rounders and cricket as well as clubs for athletics, dance, table tennis and health related fitness.

Who should I talk to if I want to know more?
