CREATIVE MINDS (Humanities, Performing Arts, ICT and Skills)
What happens in Year 7?
The aim of this curriculum is to provide our young people with the skills or competencies they need to thrive in the real world. It is a broad framework through which we deliver Music, ICT, Drama and the Humanities in a creative and flexible way so that our young people leave school able to thrive in the real world. In addition, the curriculum is designed to help your child with their transition from Primary school to Secondary school by having less individual subjects, enabling students to build stronger relationships with staff and peers.
In terms of assessment, pupils will continue to be assessed in line with National Curriculum levels for individual subjects at the end of each unit but they will also be assessed on their attributes for learning. These attributes for learning are: Resourceful, Reliable, Reasoning, Resilient and Responsible (The 5R’s) and we will report home to parents on these attributes.
Pupils receive 8 hours a week of Creative Minds and are taught by a dedicated team of teachers from Humanities, ICT and the Arts.
