Westborough – A Safe Place to be.
Westborough ALWAYS puts the safety of its students first. We have very clear policies on dealing with bullying and some of our areas of focus are summarised below. We regularly survey our students and the feedback confirms that most students feel safe at Westborough. We work proactively to stop bullying and have clear policies on dealing with child protection, e safety, bullying, racial discrimination and equal opportunities. Our policies can be viewed here.

Anti- Bullying At Westborough High School
We pride ourselves on the community cohesion within the school. We believe that all pupils have the right to learn, and to enjoy their time at school. The effects of bullying can often hinder this, so we work tirelessly to ensure that bullying is minimal in our school. This year a new, detailed Anti-Bulling Policy has been put in place, in order to teach staff and parents about the knock on effects of bullying. This policy has been deemed outstanding by Kirklees LA and has been used across the region as an example of excellent practise.
During their time at Westborough, students are made fully aware that bullying behaviour is not acceptable. They cover the topic in their PSHE lessons, and are always encouraged to share their thoughts and feelings with staff members. This year students from year 7, 8 and 9 are also participating in an Anti-Bulling Day, where outside organisations will look at specific forms of bullying, from Racial to Homophobic. This has been organised to fit in with this year’s National Anti-Bullying message, ‘Taking Action Together’, encouraging all students to become involved in banishing bullying for good.
Our school’s anti bullying coordinator is Miss E Bowen if you want to find out more please contact her or for more information see the links below.

E Safety
The use and growth of the internet has opened up lots of safety issues for young people. Students at Westborough study e-safety in ICT lessons as well as part of the PSHE programme. Breaking news stories are added to the syllabus meaning students are constantly given opportunity to learn from current events happening around them in their own lives.
These sites provide some really useful information for parents and students who want to learn more about being e-safe.
