Year 6 to 7 Transition

year 7 Summer School 2009

We enjoy excellent links with our Primary Schools. Our feeder schools include:

1. Carlton – link is here
2. Ravensthorpe – link is here
3. Westmoor – link is here
4. Boothroyd – link is here
5. Headfield – link is here

Students in our feeder schools enjoy an exciting transition programme. This year we had video conferencing, led by our peer mediators. Primary students were able to ask mediators various questions about school life. This has been an activity we have done for a few years now and it is very successful as it gives the year 6 students a chance to find out about their new school in an environment that they are still comfortable in.

Our annual buddy in the park day is held in Dewsbury Park, and is a chance for the year 6 pupils to meet together in their new forms, meet staff and experience a variety of activities that they can access when they come to Westborough. You can view photos from our day here

We also have a summer challenge that runs at either the beginning or the end of the summer holiday. We have about 30 pupils attend and they have the chance to take part in a range of activities that we run as part of our extended schools programme. They get to familiarise themselves with the school, make new friends and get to know some staff.

“All pupils should attend this because now we’ve lost our fears we can just enjoy the experience” Umar – Y7 student.
