PHYSICAL EDUCATION

What happens in Year 7?

In Year 7, all students have one lesson of 100 minutes and develop their
skills in football, netball, gymnastics, rugby, movement, health related fitness,
rounders, cricket and athletics.  Students learn to develop their planning and
organising skills and will work closely with other members of the class.

What happens in Year 10 and 11?

All students continue to participate in PE furthering the skills obtained in
Years 7 - 9.  If they wish, they can also study this subject to GCSE level.
The GCSE allows a study of the subject in greater depth and involves a great
deal of practical work alongside an understanding of how practical activities
are organised, how people participate in physical activities plus a PE study.

How do we help students achieve their potential?

PE is a very practical subject and every pupil receives the opportunity and
encouragement to achieve their full potential.  Students will be developing their skills during every lesson.  They constantly get short and long-term goals to achieve and are developing their skills in teamwork.

What else goes on in the PE Department?

Many extra-curricular activities take place at lunchtime and after school.
These include the Dance Leaders Award, football, netball, rugby, basketball, rounders, cricket, athletics, dance and table tennis.
