GCSE Short Course RE And Citizenship (Core Subject)

Exam Board: Edexcel

In Years 10 and 11 all students study a short GCSE course in Religious Studies, with key aspects of Citizenship, based around the following topics:

  • Religion and Social Responsibility
  • Religion and the Environment
  • Religion Peace and Conflict
  • Crime and Punishment
  • Religion and Medical Issues

The topics will be studied around the religions of Christianity and Islam.

The course also provides students with a grounding in Citizenship Studies dealing with topical issues such as the Environment, Criminal Law and moral issues created by modern medicine. International conflict is also addressed thereby giving students an insight into the main issues which citizens face in this country and the world today.
