GCSE History

(Option subject)

Exam Board:  OCR - Schools History Project

HISTORY – IT’S A PEOPLE THING

  • Ever wondered how evil can triumph in our world?
  • Ever wondered how doctors have the skills to save our lives?
  • Ever wondered why there is violence in Northern Ireland
  • Ever wondered why the world we live in is like it is?

NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO FIND OUT

History is all about asking questions and searching for answers.  Very often there are no definite right or wrong answers, only different opinions.  Study a subject at GCSE where YOUR opinions count.  You can’t be wrong.

Over the two years of the course you will be prepared for two examined topics:

  • Medicine through time
  • Germany 1919 – 1945

You will also produce two coursework assignments:

  • A Local Study
  • A Modern World Conflict Study

Assessment

Your final GCSE grade will be based on:

  1. Two written examinations (75%) - Paper 2 is source based and hence requires less revision
  1. Coursework (25%) - This will involve fieldwork investigations out of school

History in the future

History GCSE is a highly valued qualification both by employers and colleges.  History teaches you to ask and answer questions, to search for relevant information and to discard that which is irrelevant.  These are skills that matter in today’s world.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PEOPLE, THEN YOU ARE INTERESTED IN HISTORY!
