WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR?
The course will appeal to those students who are interested in following a career in childcare or want to learn about how to be a good parent and how to care for a young child in the home
WHAT WILL I DO ON THE COURSE?
You will learn about
- Pregnancy and responsible parenting
- Caring for young children up to 4 years
- Play and learning in the home with children up to 4 years
HOW DO I GET ON THIS COURSE?
Students should have a keen interest and commitment to children and their needs. A good report from your school including good attendance and punctuality. An aim to achieve at least E grades at GCSE.
WHAT WILL I ACHIEVE?
Entry Level Certificate in Preparation for Childcare.
HOW WILL THE COURSE BE ASSESSED?
Each unit has 3 coursework tasks and you will get guidance from your tutor as to how to do the tasks. You do assessed work for each of the units, these will be assessed by your tutor.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTER THE COURSE?
After the course you can continue to gain qualifications in childcare or health and social care. The course is a good starting point for training for careers in childcare such as nursery nurse or nanny. The level you move on to will depend on the grades you get on this course and in your GCSEs.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
You need to have an interest in learning about different aspects of childcare and want to explore new ideas. You need to be prepared to work hard; childcare is not an easy option.
