YOUNG FIREFIGHTERS COURSE
What will I learn? 
The aim of this course is to provide learners with an opportunity to develop a range of skills and knowledge which include working with various Fire Service equipment such ladders, hose, pumps, breathing apparatus, knots and lines, first aid and learning about the Fire Service as a whole. Students will learn these through a “hands-on” approach utilizing and developing their skills by problem solving in practical situations and scenarios.
The Course will help gain valuable skills needed for later employment.
How long is the course?
Half day a week for two years.
What entry qualifications do I need?
None, although you may be interviewed and have to pass a basic selection test. For the course and you need to show that you are disciplined, enthusiastic, motivated and committed to developing your own skills and dedicated to teamwork. You will be required to wear a uniform for health and safety reasons and meet professional standards set out by the Fire Service This includes conforming to a code of conduct.
What qualification will I gain?
BTEC Level 2 Award New qualification B Tec level 2 to be confirmed for Sept 2007
Award = 1 GCSE A-C Equivalent
Certificate = 2 GCSE A-C Equivalent
