BTEC First Certificate in Business Studies

Exam Board: BTEC

This year in Business Studies we are offering the BTEC First Certificate in Business.  This is a practical course related to work in the world of Business.  You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on real business situation, activities and demands.

You will study the following units:

Core Unit – all students study this unit:  

  • Exploring Business Purpose

Specialist Units  - two units from the following list will be studied:

  • Business Communication
  • People in Organisations
  • Providing Business and Administrative Support
  • Personal Selling
  • Doing Business on-line
  • Setting up a small business
  • Developing Customer Relations
  • Finance

You will also take part in a Young Enterprise Business Project as well as business workshops hosted by people from business and industry, visiting speakers and visits to business organisations.

Assessment

Assessment is by coursework and assignments. No end of course exams.

Coursework is ongoing throughout the course, so you will need to work hard and keep to deadline dates.

The BTEC First Certificate is the equivalent of two GCSEs at Grades A* to C and is a single option subject.
